So with my EQ having a professional tune it wont be a prob right?
Those Subs Manufactures SlickRick mentioned will do the job. If I want to hit over 130db's it is possible with the proper amp which would be the next step.
I think I'm covered as far as Drivers go. I think finding an amp that's flexible enough to give the driver enough mid to low bass at it's optimum would be nice and not overated.

dual spiders simply means they the sub uses 2 spiders instead of 1. it suppose to help keep the cone linear at high excursion levels. but Dan Wiggins at Adire Audio made a comment stating using more than 1 spiders isn't always the best option. More is not always better.

XBL2 is adire's trademark motor technology. want more info? here's a good read from the man himself.

it's pretty damn easy to hit over 130. my 15 in a sealed box being powered by a small 300 watt amp hit 137 dB on the new Termlab mic.

(but my current sub amp puts a lot more than 300 watts )

130db can be achieved so easily. I am unaware of what you want from your system. you tell stories of 4 18's and you want high spl from inaudible levels to barely audioble levels, then want a system that can hit in thr 130's?

Difference between XBL and new coil technologies?

1. Power handling: LMT, Split Coil, XBL²
2. Stroke: 3 way tie
3. Scalable from tweeters to big woofers: XBL², Split Coil, LMT
4. Low moving mass: XBL², Split Coil, LMT
5. Low inductance: XBL², Split Coil, LMT
6. Accepts shorting rings easily: XBL² Split Coil/LMT (tie)
7. Tolerance to winding errors: XBL², LMT, Split Coil
8. Motor Size: XBL², Split Coil, LMT
9. Flux Usage Efficiency: XBL², LMT, Split Coil
10. Production Cost: XBL², Split Coil, LMT
11. Production Ease (need to change production methods): XBL², Split Coil, LMT

3 db's=twice as loud...so 160 is not feasbile in a maxima let alone driveable at that high of a DB.

160 dB? you DO realize how high of a number that is right? took my friend four RE MT 15s and several kilowatts to hit 155 db in his explorer...

Do you want to have a heart attack? There are cheaper ways to do that.....
160dbs for everyday driving is overkill not to mention that you're going to need insane amounts of power and air movement to accomplish that. I bet you'll be happy with something like 140db.

Yes I do nah but yeah I don't really know what 160db's sounds like but I know you can't sit in something that produces that high of a DB. I just want that option on tap when ever I want to...
Damn the RE series along with the XXX is tempting as well..

Ok, well then lets get started. You have about $10K laying around right? You did say money isnt an option, so confirm the money first. Also remember this $10K is a STARTING point. It will be more.

just do this. get a 15" xxx. build a BIG **** box, and have the port vented into the cabin via the rear deck. feed that thing ~1500 watts.

if that's not loud enough, then come back to us for more options.

I already spent $1700 including labor it's going into the Headunit and door panel speakers alone. Now I have about $2K for the subs and amps including labor. I just need to figure what amp and sub to use.
So that's why I'm here and trying to see what's out there before next week, so I don't sound like a fool at the shop.

$2K is a decent amount of money for a sub setup, although it will not in ANY way get you to 160+ Ever.

$2k will get you in the high 140s, possibly low 150s if done correctly. but realize you will not have a trunk left. 160 is out of the question.

140 is PLENTY loud IMO...

Its not even the equipment that would be uber expensive it would be primarily the power to run the equipment.
