Mobile entertainment and alternative to stock nav unit.
I have the info screen moved down and replaced it with a 7 inch touch screen. The touch screen is then connected to a carputer in the trunk. It gives me gps navigation, the ability to play all types of music (mp3, wma, etc) and watch all formats of movies (divx, avi, etc), Bluetooth, TV tuner and wifi.
* I also have a DVD drive permanently mounted in the glove box (I had to lose the light to get this done).
* I have a (power mate) multimedia input scroll wheel installed right below the center armrest – It is currently used for stop, start, next track and to exit the visualization when using the roadrunner front-end (very convenient).
* The TV tuner (the reception is pretty bad for live broadcast, even with an external amplified antenna) also has connections in the trunk for a video feed (can be used to connect a video game system).
The carputer has a microprocessor controlled auto power-up/shutdown interface which is based on ignition key input. (turn the key, the computer comes on…turn the key off the computer automatically goes through the shutdown procedure)
All the wires for the rearview camera are connected however I don’t have the ***** to have someone drill a hole in the trunk.
Of course everything is connected to the HU via a Pac aai-nis unit.
Everything was professionally installed and looks stock. I will try to take and post some pictures later tonight.
BTW, I am current running a slightly modded version of Windows XP MCE with Road Runner as my frontend and am using Iguidance for navigation.
I also have this installed along with my alarm and remote start system. With it I can be any where in America and call a toll free number to have full control over my alarm and remote start system. Additional features include; carjack theft and auto locate.
PS
My radio reception has recently started to get poor so I am also considering adding XM to my system.

Nice setup. One of my buddies went a little different, but he loves the outcome.
