Affordable Amp

Looking for a good affordable amp to run a kicker solob. 10"
I believe the specs were 600watts 2ohm mono.. I've had this sub for 2years+ but it's been sitting around collecting dust.
Curious
1-I once tested to see if it would work with a 2channel amp it actually worked..was this bad?

2-Should I go for close to 600watts as possible. The sub is actually a tad overkill half the amount would suffice 300watts.

3-Whats a good amp?
Thanks

Whats up man? That sub, if its the round version is actually only 300 rms, so you would want a good quality amp that can put out at least 200 rms but closer to 300. The sub or the manual for the sub should say what voice coil configuration it has. Once you find that out, you can narrow down whether you'd rather have a 1ohm stable amp or a 2 ohm stable amp. Also did you figure out the components?

I have a kicker amp actually 600.1 it died for some unknow reason, Removed cover nothing looks fried. I looked around locally to get it repaired a while ago no dice.Kind of sucks since I paid 300+ for it way back when..I do need to get a smaller box as well. Yeah Nismos14 got them installed, just going with 1 tweeter for now. don't feel like chopping door panel. Hm budget varries.. I have to get car painted next month. So sub 250, lower the better or If
anyone knows of aamp repair shop in central NJ have it looked at,fixed if possible.

Do the lights still come on on the amp? does it show protection mode? Are you sure the sub is still functioning? I dont think the place Doug knows is local though its cheaper to send it for repair than to buy a new amp.

PM/EMAIL 'Polecat' in this forum...Tracy works for Kicker, will get that thing repaired no prob.

Thats actually a pretty beefy amp, sounds like you got a dud.

Unless of course you were running THAT sub with that amp presenting a 1ohm load, then i can understand how it went poof..
