Well, that is your opinion. Waste money? I dont pay anywhere near retail on anything from JL Audio. So i am not wasting money. If it came down to paying retail, i wouldnt. Hell i wouldnt pay retail for any electronics becasue it can always be had for cheaper if you do research, or in my case i have a friend who works at a shop that happens to sell JL.

we see your point but unless you get them at dead cost there are other brands that are better for the price.

what is your point and what is the point of this discussion? Many brands are better than JL, many brands are not. I do not discriminate because of a brand name. 95% of my opinions I claim are from ear time. From personal experience my old shivas were far better than w3v2's in an almost identical install and both were in 5th gen maxima's.

You dont have to explain yourself. You run it cause you like it, stick to your guns.

And you are right I dislike JL because I cannot afford it. It has nothing to do with the fact that I dont like regulated power supply amplifiers . It has nothing to do with the fact that they market themselves as high end yet they dont make a speaker (other than w6v2's i really like those) that I'd put in my car. Nothing to do with the fact that they use shaddy VC configurations on the W7's so you HAVE to use Slash amps to get the most power to them. Nothing to do with the fact that I dont like higher QTs drivers for subwofer duty as they sound boomy to me in a sealed enclosure as opposed to a low qts driver for SQ.
Nothing to do with the fact that they sell mediocre wire/peripherals with their logo on them surpassing the cost of Monster Cable stuff and the older Phoenix Gold stuff (now those were bomb-as s peripherals) Nothing to do with the fact that its whored out. Nothing to do with the fact that every peanut headed rapper thinks its the bomb and put's it in his ride.

Just because something is 'hot' doesnt nescessarily mean its better. JL has always made a quality product. But they are still in the same level as Kicker, Rockford, Memphis, Phoenix Gold...just marketed better.

I'm happy you like your JL stuff. Some people dont like them for good reasons, some are just haters. Welcome to the forums.

Ahh apparently you know me too well. Yeah, like you, I'd love to hook up the IDW's if I had a chance, but improving bass is like my smallest concern with my system now.

Oh another love or hate JL thread. How nice.

I wouldn't do it unitl I think ALL other aspecs of my system are up to snuff and done. Every once in a while you'll see some pop up on Ebay, but I'm hoping to get some new ones if Image re-releases. 15's or 18's hanging (glassed) from the rear deck would be cool.

They have a shallow mounting depth right? I think I've seen them once a long *** time ago... although im not 100% sure.

They're not the deepest 15's/18's in the world, but I wouldn't exactly call them shallow either....

If what I've heard is correct, the 18's were straight up rebaddged. The 15's were made for ID specifically byt the speaker maker that does the 18s, just a 15" version of the 18's. I'm not sure who the speaker maker is, but they are proaudio subs.

I like my bass where it is right now, so i prolly won't change it. even if i did, i still need an eq, dedicated midbass, more deadening, and some cosmetic stuff before i would even think about a sub upgrade.

as for the whole JL thing....I don't hate JL. I hate the JL fanboys. JL makes good stuff, albeit a little overpriced compared to other brands. They benefit from the blind following companies like rockford, pioneer, kicker, alpine, and kenwood enjoy.

Wrong, I do not hate JL Audio.

That is because they perform very well.

The Rainbows I have are a great bang for the buck component set. I could have spent more for something that was similar in performance, but why?
