Install help

HI guys. So I am trying to find som egood info on how to wire up the car. I think I may want to try it myself to save some $$ if it is not too hard if not than obviously The Don will do it.

Basically I would like to learn how to make the mdf brackets for the speakers instead of the plastic ones that hold the bose speakers. How to install new speakers, how to run the wire. What kind of wire is run to the speaker? Regular RCA jacks or speakers cable that connects to the amp? etc... I looked at the faq but it is mostly outdated and hard to find any real how-to with pics. Can any1 point me in the right direction? I need to do a lot of readin as Im a newb at this but I think I can have it done if I find a good read on how this is to be done on a max, with pics preferably. Ive seen some pics of what you guys do here and it is amazing.

You are definitely not ready to start installing. Thats being kind. When you have to ask what kind of wire is run to the speaker, you need professional install.

bcae1.com is a good start for electronics though.

If you are near Don, this should be a very easy decision. You can learn as time goes by, but for now leave it for the pros.

k thats what I thought I actually just found out that regular speaker wire will do (same as is used in home audio) I always thought car audio is different for some reason. I kinda have a tight budget so I was hoping if I can do the install myself I can get decent equipment and still be within the budget. I wired up my home A/V equipment and made my own RCA cables so Im not an idiot, for some reaosn I thought car audio is completely different. I just need to do more reading.
Thanks for the site kpr10is. Reading it now. If you guys want to contribute with tips and other tutorials that would be nice. But yea I need talk to Don about pricing in stuff but I just want to see if I can do this stuff myself so I can be within budget because I imagine that the mdf brackets and installing comps wont be cheap.

Just because you are not familiar with something does not make you an idiot. People are here to help out, and to learn from each other.

Be advised that if you purchase high end components, typically the warranty is VOID or SHORTENED when not professionally installed.
