Having seen and used the new models, which do you find to be comparable to the 8053 or 8454? Or do you think they are better?

Since those are top of the line...the only ones thatd compare are going to be the CD5000 and CD7000. Granted, you aren't going to find anything with 16v balanced preouts in an 06 Eclipse deck, but you get steering wheel controls, ipod controls, sat radio capability, hd radio capability, mp3 which the 8454 had but 8053 didnt without the Commander, etc etc. Some hardcore SQ fans still like the OG status of the 8053, but the CD5000 and 7000 have more features than most ever need.

Thanks, Manny lent me his ears for a bit yesterday and we did some playing with the tuning, certainly sounds a bit better now.

So are you happy with it so far, Don? Any first impressions? (Even though this isn't the first time you've used one...)

well technically in a car it is. The unit is definately feature packed and the simplicity to go through sources is much better than the previous models.

The Display is a ton better and noise floor issues seem to be a bit better, but may be due to the lower preout signal.

Ill play with it a bit more later on and try for some better shots.
