Did you just say that you have a "few batteries" and 20 farads worth of capacitors in your car?

Hmmm.... 9 volt batteries? Why the need for a "few batteries" and what does 20 farads of caps =?

SE are good subs for the money. I considered them years ago. they are not a new model, but they are tried and true and can take 600 watts rms daily I hear.

Hey, in your opinion which ID sounds better, the ID or IDQ? I hear there both very good........ or does it just depend on the watts/enclosure?

They have the lowest freq. responce i've seen 10-150hz....

frequency response= zero consideration when picking a sub IMO. any decent sub can handle 20-100 hz; not to mention you cant even hear below 20hz and real music hardly ever drops below 30hz.

I will be running two extra batteries in my car for my stereo, yes, and a 20 farad capacitor. When you're pushing 2500 watts to the subs, U need it. I just hope that I can achieve decent SPL with having a system in the trunk. I haven't built a system in a car yet. I'd like to be close to 150db, but we'll see. It is in a trunk.

So which do you recommend, my friend wants to pick one up for his car soon.. I think he's leaning toward the ID, since he can power it fully with his amp, 400watts..

Haven't decided yet on what alternator I'm going to run. I have to disagree with you on the capacitor suggestion. With the MOJO amp trying to draw nearly 200 amps of current, the capacitor helps out quite a bit.

The capacitor doesn't create current so your just taxing your alternator more.

Umm ok, well have to agree to disagree. I personally dont use one and have some decently beefy amps. But to each their own I suppose.

nope, dvc 4 can only be wired to 2 or 8 ohms. i mean you COULD just use one coil if you're hellbent, but i don't recommend doing this at all...

You CAN use one coil but you BETTER NOT because that will fubar the sub.

OK, that's what i was thinking but i wanted to make sure of it... NO i will not wire one coil, considering this is a brand new sub... I guess if I wire in series, it will see about 200watts right? using a 400x1 2channel amp..

^^^What kind of amp?

Whatever it puts out at 4ohms PER CHANNEL, you will get if you bridge it at 8 ohm...just add both channels together...

ID doesn't make any "bad" subs that I've heard, but there's also MANY MANY other good subs out there.

I know they make some of the Arc subs that everyone raves about, but I'm not sure if it's some of them or all of them (They've been buddies since Arc started). Maybe Don or Manny know that one.

I'm at least putting a sub in the whipature this summer, probably a whole system. I'm looking at either an RL-P, an IDMax or best case scenario, a Stereo Integrity Magnum 12". I keep hearing good things about the Mags. So, we'll see.

yeah ok...ID makes ALL their subs inhouse. They are a manufacturer/oem'r first and foremost (Arc, ED,etc...) as thats house they stay afloat as a company -as well as make their own lines....they dont have the capital as a company to have other builhouses make their stuff, nor do they take chances jeopardizing their reputation as a builder.

Nice budget subs.

Also if you're on more of a budget, ID had some OEM subs they made and sold on ebay recently, right from the "factory" (from what I hear, factory isn't a good word as the place is apparently pretty small). They're not on ebay anymore, but I think they still have some models left if you call them.

(PS..their horns aren't bad either )
