Figured i would post this in here b/c i no alot of u check this thread often.. Anyway easy question:
When your wiring a dvc 4ohm sub into 8ohm series, what watts does your amp operate at? same as if it's a 4ohm load? like mines 100x2 @4ohm so if I wire my subs in series will they still be getting 100watts a piece or less than that? Reason why is on hot days like today, my amp just gets too hottt for comfort wired 2ohm....... I gotta get a bigger amp! Sorry for the noob question

Well actually i have 2 subs im wiring, If i bridged my amp but wired both subs 8ohm how many watts would they be seeing? OR can i not do that? My original question was if I wire them stereo 8ohm will they still see 100 watts or less.... sorry for the confusion
Yes nismos how right you are..... What are the best brands that won't break the bank? I want something that will last a long time too, not 6mo. to a year and burn out on me.. Although my RF has been a good one.. I bet that thing was 200 degrees and never shut down...
Thankx guys for the help

You are going about it all wrong. Put all that money into a single set of nice components up front. If you really want something in the back, some decent coaxials will work.

even if its a components system?

Do this system nice in a brand new whip. follow the orgers in the audio room and you will have a system that owns anything at your HS.
Hey slick got any ideas for a decent amp? I need one with a little more juice.. My subs just don't play loud at all with only 100watts... Prob. is wired 2ohm my amp gets extremely hot on warm humid days.... I need something at least 200x2 @4ohm since i'll have to wire em in series... Pref. 250x2 @4ohm
If an amp is rated at say 250wattsx2 @4ohm... dvc wired into series which is 8ohm load... Will the amp still produce 250watts per channel @8ohm instead of 4ohm?
None of my informants know lol....... what else is new

Two subs that are 4 ohm DVC? Why not wire them together to a 4 ohm mono load and get full power out of your amp without it overheating?
As for your last question, are we now talking about one sub, running 8 ohms mono to that amp you just mentioned....500 watts. But if you have 2 4 ohm DVC subs (instead of one), why not wire each one in series (8 ohms each) and parallel them back together to a mono 4 ohm load?
Here chick this for more info....

man this can get confusing......lol
So are u saying i can leave both of them wired in 8ohm, but bridge the amp so it will see a 4ohm load and still put 200watts to each.... amp is rated: 100x2, 200x2 or 400x1 @4ohm
Ok im gonna wire them like the jl tutorial says for a 4ohm load..... hope that works out better

I used to run all Rockford Fosgate equipment....before they started building ****ty product to compete with the lower kenwood and sony stuff. I then switched over to MMats, and now i'm running Memphis. I'm impressed with them so far. The MOJO amp is sweet, and the system should be going into the MAX soon.
Two 15" Memphis MOJO's, off of a Memphis MOJO amp, a few batteries, 20 farads of capacitors, 5.25" components, and 6.5" components. I just have to decided on a double din deck.
The two 15's do 150.2 db, in a ext. cab. pickup, with only a 70 amp alternator, and no extra batteries. There is no wall built, and no dynomat. I was impressed for just having a ****ty box thrown in.
