Answer me this guys, so I took don's advice and hooked up my dvc subs series/parallel.. subs in 8ohm parallel to amp=4ohm load I'm absolutly positive thier hooked up right! So im driving home listening to the volume on 23/60 not very loud and my shi**y RF amp shuts down on me... Get home and could not even touch it b/c it was so hot! It got very warm wired 2ohm but only on hot days with not much air circulating.. Wired 4ohm to one channel it should not get that hot in a short period of time with plenty of air getting to it... What gives? I have followed every wiring tutorial there is and am sure it is wired correctly for a 4ohm load.... O well, guess i better get a monoblock huh?

So you have each sub wired up - to + and then the open _ and + to the amp, and same on the other sub?

You have the amp ran bridged right? How high is your gain set?

Gains are set pretty high b/c if there turned under 75% i cannot hear bass until my volume is way way up.. Im gonna recheck the wiring tomorrow just as a final resort I guess......... Something has to be up, it got hot before but never shut down on me, thought running 4ohm would help then it shuts down lol... 4yr old fosgate

So your saying I should have how many wires going to the amp? just to make sure of course

Well I found the source of my problem guys... I decided that i would install my old alpines just to see if my amp would handle bridging those single 4ohm subs... When I removed my kickers I noticed that they were indeed wired wrong, I followed a diagram that someone had drawn up wrong like a idiot..

But it's my fault for doing it, I have never wired 2 dvc's up 4ohm before so it was an honest mistake Anyway i guess my amp was seeing 1ohm or something b/c that bit** got mad hott..

Bridged the alpines, cranked them up, and the amp barely got warm
Think im gonna sell the kickers, and save up for some diamonds or ID's.. Those kickers really don't sound much better than the alpines to me.. But they were underpowered

how much power were they seeing again? A new amp that gives them about 250-300 per sub would make them much louder.

Get rid of both then buy a solid single sub and save up for a better amp. Subs aren't always better in pairs

Got one of the kicker's up for auction on ebay Decided to keep the alpines until i can get something better..

While im thinking about it, this was a debate some of us had not too long ago.. Do you guys agree that say a single 12 with lots of power will play just as loud as dual 12's with decent power? Same goes for 10's etc... Most people i know swear by pairs of subs but i think that you throw plenty of power to a single sub you will get good results... Just wondering what u all thought?

very dependant on amp, sub, and box. but yes you can have a loud single sub setup.

A good quality single sub is usually better than two sub par subs with the same power.

yep, seems like for the 06 lineup, nissan went with another vender. iirc, the non-bose in the 04's and 05's are clarion.

So you're saying that your non-bose setup in the 06 is made by panasonic.

They've been using clarion for a LONG time.

yeah, all the speakers are from panasonic. come to think about it, the speakers in the 3rd gen were clarion as well. guess they made the switch to cut costs?
