Don't ground the amps separately. That's opening up a whole new can of worms.

Paint is scraped off the grounding point?

Wait, seriously? Maybe that's my problem then. (I still have the hissing too.) What's wrong with grounding the amps separately?

I told you when you were here to share a ground. Using different grounding points can cause a loop.

Remember when I gave ya the wire I was seeing how far it needed to go for them to be together?

Hehe, yes...?

I do remember, but the wires didn't work out to be long enough for where i put the ground point. I'll have to fix this as soon as I get a chance. Will this harm the amps in any way while I have them grounded separately? (because I don't think I'll be able to fix it until I get home in May)

cdt ef-61i components. tw-25 1inch tweeters, 560i crossover. powered by kenwood 4way amp. running bridges putting out 180rmsx2@4. but i have the gain all the way down on the amp becuase the speakers can only take around 140rms. i have a highpassfilter set at 80hz.

the other amp is a fosgate 150rmsx2@4 powering two JL w1 in a sealed box.

all the paint is scrapped off the ground. the ground is longer then 3ft because i'm using a distrobution block for both power and ground. i have 4guage power wire run to the 8guage distroblock.

the speaker wire is 14guage and is run next to the rcas. all the RCAs are relativly new and were bought from a car stereo shop. none of the RCAs are grounded.

currently i have the hu treble set at -6 and it still hisses. and if i increase it obviously the hissing increase as well.

edit:i guess i can switching the rcas 1st and if that doesn't help i'll switch the fosgate amp to the components and the kenwood for the subs when i get home...this hissing is driving me insane. No suggestions???

Yes it is simply because paint cannot transfer a strong signal. You MUST scrape off all paint or you can damage your amp since it's not properly being grounded.
