rear deck speakers fighting sub in trunk

What do you guys use to isolate the rear deck speakers that stick down into the trunk? I'm thinking the trunk sub will produce sound waves that could interfer or cancel out the rear deck speakers.

That about sounds right. Switch the amp into 2channel and send more power up front were you need it.

I'm not an expert in car audio, but if you have things properly crossed-over, how would they interfere with each other? The sub shouldn't be putting out the same frequencies as the rest of your speakers, and vice versa.

I prefer some rear fill, but I'm wierd like that I guess. I enjoy being "surrounded" by music, rather than having it all in front of me.

I think he is referring to them air pushed by the sub causing problems with the rear deck speakers. you can buy foam baffles, but I have heard rear deck speakers with foam baffles and IMO they lose their sound.

Ahh. Well, I have a/d/s/ coaxials in rear deck and a JL Audo stealthbox for a sub and I have no complaints at all. I love the way it all sounds and have had no problems for the 4-5 years I've owned those speakers.

I've never heard of subwoofers interfering with speakers. I wouldn't worry about it IMO.

if theres too much pressure i would think the speakers would distrort...i mean look how much ur trunk and roof flex, imagine a speaker. i like running no speakers and its proven to me that it sounds better.

This problem is not something you really need to worry about unless you seal off the entire rear deck and the back seat, then all the pressure is going to push against the rear of the cone, but I doubt you're doing that so don't worryabout it.

I take it Creative Designs likes his subs??? lol I'm ditching mine soon

While i"m at it I'll add another vote for ditching rear speakers and focusing on getting the music in front of you where it belongs.

surround sound and stereo sound are 2 totally different things. stereo out of a surround sound home theater only comes out of 2 speakers. do they play concerts in surround sound? didnt think so

A cars interior with windows up is a closed echo chamber. proper placement of speakers front, side, and rear along with acoustic treatments and a certain level of quality gear make for a very pleasant listening experience.

I run all 4 of my speakers off a 2 channel amp. I have gotten used to listening to music in a car with two speakers+sub behind me. I tried just going with the components up front and didn't like it. To each his own I guess. Most people aren't really into SQ per se. Most are like me and just want powerful sound. If that's the case then two extra speakers in the back helps the cause.

it is around the average for private law schools. 23-27 is the going rate besides the upper level schools which can go up to 35k and even more. UF tuition is $103.12 per credit hour for undergrad for FL residents...I guess that is really cheap.

Damn...rutgers is like $180 per credit for instate...plus a whole lot of extra fees. 3 credits equate out to about $700 from what I remember, for a summer class I took.

i wll also agree to disagree but the fact of the mater is that your posting links to ikeaudio and ebay, your not going to get any type of decent sound out of speaker from that place. im getting you a 2 or 3 way component set WILL sound better than having rear speakers in your car. Take it for what it is, ive done sound comp, don has, as well as many others. all with no rear speakers.

I say white you say black. The important point is we all like our cars and our sound systems. I have no problem agreeing to disagree on this!!

Has anyone used Audiogon http://www.audiogon.com/??
I've got some great deals on new and used home theater and stereo pieces!!

To get back on topic. I just did an Impala SS with a pair of SX 15"s tuned to 32Hz with a pair of Diamond Audio D3 6X9"s in the rear deck. They would jump out of thier skins at higher volumes (they were bottoming out) even crossed over at 80Hz. I unplugged them and they still did the same thing. We had to remove them until we could make baffles for the. The foam baffles are a good inexpensive solution to combating this problem, aside from glassing or building something for them. You can get them for $16 on PE. BTW, the Impala is waaaayyyy louder with the two 6X9"s removed and I think it sounded better too.

this impala was not owned by some young skinny kid was it? shawn sold some kid with an impala some 18's at the SPL comp last year and I'm wondering if its the same wigger who brought his mom to carry the subs for him because they were too heavy.

Nope, this is someone I met at school. He is actually at UF right now, just started. And I would have no problem selling a pair of 18"s to anyone, regardless if their mommy had to help them. $ is $. I would do my best not to clown, too bad. I am mad b/c his car was soo much louder than mine. I may be selling my subs and sub amp at some point. I am tired of my 139.8. I want to be loud.
