Need Help: Stock cd player/ climate control bracket mount
My POS stock head unit blew on me recently...so I got another HU to replace it. I was able to take the entire cd player/climate control out of the console...everything went accordingly until I try to separate the cd player and the bracket mounts. They were so d@mn tight, I stripped 3 out of the 8 screws and now I'm stuck. I can't find any mounts anywhere and I have been running my car without the center unit for a few days now...anyone here have the mounts that they want to sell or know where I can find them...any help would be greatly appreciated.

just drill them out.
on the same subject though, mine was stolen and it's taken two weeks to locate one since the insurance is getting me a used one and we can't do anything with the stereo without it. not sure if they're going to get the gxe or se/gle unit either.

Yeah, I remember it being a ***** to get those screws out. I read a bunch of threads beforehand that said it would be hard and I didn't believe them. But in the end, I think I had stripped 2 or 3 philips bits in the process. What you basically have to do is take a big nail, place it in the center of the screw head, and hammer hard on it a few times. This should break the seal between the screws and the stereo. My guess is Nissan used way too much locktight.
And I guess you could also drill out the holes like xtant said; shouldn't matter that you're going to ruin the threads inside the stereo becuase it's garbage anyway. I don't know that getting new brackets will help you because I'm sure getting the screws out of the climate control unit is equally tough.

nah i just replaced my hu today someone stripped the screws on the brackets so i had to drill them out but the climate control because it's screwed into plastic is way easier to unscrew even with the wrong bit or screwdriver
