8 guage wiring shutting new amp off????
hey im running a single id overstock 10 sub and im using an alpine mrd-500 amp. when i put it at a decent level the amp stops working. do i need to use 4 guage wiring? could that cause it to shut off.... im pretty sure i have it wiring to 2 ohms...

1) Could be running the amp at too low of an impedance and going into protect 2) Find a better grounding point 3) Figure out the voltage your amp is seeing at the time it shuts down 4) Larger gauge wire never hurt

I've got 0 gauge, speaker wire and a 4 channel RCA running down the same side.
Previously, I had 0 gauge, 3 separate pairs of RCA's, remote turn on, speaker wire and the power/ground/RCA from my backup camera running down the drivers side.
It CAN be done.

Stay away from Vaseline... it's a petroleum products and some of the interior stuff will slowly degrade (engine-side stuff is typically built for petroleum resistance).
Use copious amounts of Astro-Glide (please, no gay comments here)... it's water-based, but stays slick long enough to slide it in the hole (OK, you can make some comments on that one).
