check to see if that speaker is able to be setup for free air use. I believe that is how the bose is set up. If it does not have the ability for free air use then that sub wont do much. But there are alot more qualified people here that can give you more insight on the topic.

Kicker Comp C8's can be mounted in free-air applications. You might be putting too much power into it. They can only handle 100 RMS. Try turning down the gain and set your bass to 0 and see if that helps.

Did you check all the settings on the amp? Make sure no filters are on, then begin with a lpf. Does the kicker amp have an ssf?

UPDATE: well, i dynamatted the entire rear deck, the subwoofer plate, AND the seat-belt assys (as shown by housecor). i am thoroughly satisfied with the dynamat and i get NO rattles from the rear deck. i have also decided that the kicker is just a lame subwoofer and really is not a good substitution. i have decided that the only real way to get good bass, is to put a decent set up in your trunk.

Every sub can be installed in an infinite baffle configuration. The Theile/Small parameters will determine how it will perform. If you want to model it in Unibox or WinISD, just put it in a very large sealed box. I use about 20cf when modeling a trunk IB.

There's plenty of other configurations...no one told you to get the kicker...
