Alarm goes off when i close the trunk!!!!

Alarm goes off when i close the trunk!!!!

I have the viper 791 for like a year now.. today i noticed that if the car is armed and (longer than 30 seconds) and i open the trunk then close it the alarm goes off... im trying to figure out the problem... any ideas...

by the way the trunk is set to channel 2 or the aux button

1) if you open the trunk while the car is armed the trunk trigger isnt hooked up, and
2) it is the shock sensor that is setting off alarm when the trunk is closed

yea of course its the shock sensor... but im able to open the trunk with the remote and when i close it, the alarms goes off...

Like DcMan said, if you can open your trunk with the remote (aux channel 2) while the alarm is armed, your alarm is not set up to trigger (alarm) if the trunk is opened while the car is in alarm mode. You should have a trunk trigger sensor hooked up in case someone would happen to open your trunk, the alarm will go off. This sensor is usually tapped into the tilt switch where the trunk open and closes to illuminate the light. I would look into this and get that rewired. Your car is now vulnerable because they can enter your car thru the trunk without the alarm going off. You slamming the trunk is triggering the shock sensor, making the alarm go off. Why not use your channel 2 aux for something else like remote power window module?
