Modification Of 5th Gen Rear Deck

Hello all, looking at replacing my 8 inch bose with a new subwoofer that is slightly bigger, is it easy to make the hole in the rear deck bigger?? Can you just use tin snips, or do you have to use something a little more heavy duty?? Thanks!

Sheet metal sheers will work, but you will end out with wrinkled metal at the edges of your cut. If you have access to one, use a dremel with a fiberglass reenforced cutting wheel. I used that method on a friends Dodge Intreped when we built a trunk box for two 10" subs in the rear deck. If you don't have a dremel handy, a sawsall or jigsaw with a metal cutting blade will work. Just make sure to clean up your holes with a file or you will be slicing yourself with the jagged edges of the metal.

You can remove the Bose mounting plate. If the hole still isn't big enough then yea, I'd use tin snips or the above mentioned methods.

if its the same metal thats in the 4th gen, tin snips wont work as well as a jigsaw would, i cut my deck out for 4 10's and with tin snips it would have taken weeks!
