rca noise pickup ?

recently i get this hissing in my speakers which i can hear when i press the mute button on my eclipse 8454. The ground on the amps is good makes good contact i used a dye grinded to get down to pure metal. So i think i can eliminate the grounds. But say if i hold the window switch up the hissing goes away but immediatly after i release it i can hear the noise again, im leaning towards the rcas or maybe the headunit ? The gains on my 4 channel are only on 30% of the way so i dont think that it is too high. If any one has any idea what it is id appreciate the help, thanks

Unplug your RCA's to see if the noise is still there. If it isn't, then it's your RCA's

Your rca's don't generate noise. I suggest rechecking all your wires. Where are your rca's running? It could be the noise reduction circuit on your amplifier is on its way out (in order to verify this directly connect speakers to hu). What are you using for your ground? (doubt this is the problem if it just started). Check to make sure your hu ground is secure as well as your amplifer's ground.

yea when i unplug it the sound goes away, i also tried looping the amp channels with a spare pair of rcas and the noise went away as well. Im thinking about just getting the rcas that are paired together for each channel.

What kind of cables are they?

Baxtel: They don't generate noise, but they can surely pick it up if they're cheap.

There was a big debate about quality of rca cables over at sounddomain.com a couple of years ago (10 or 12 pages of posts). So in my old car I experimented by replacing my monster rca's (which were twisted and shielded) with no name 30 ft rca's from the local supermarket for $8. Difference of sound = none. As long as your not running your rca's parallel to a lot of other power lines you don't need to go all wacko on rca cables.

Well, I had the el cheapo Walmart RCA's and I had noise. I upgraded to some nice Stinger RCA's and the noise was gone. Wires were ran in the same locations next to the power wire...

I wouldnt exactly speak of the Monsters as being the "upper end" of RCAs so the comparison is still minimal.

Not all cars will react the same.

Running them parallel has No effect. Doesnt matter where in the vehicle they are, theyll still be next to power/ground.
