If the definition of amazing these days is sloppy, then yea theyre amazing. Kicker makes SPL subs. Not too clean, and not my choice.

i dunno what CVRs you've heard...but compared to the Solobarics, these are definitely SQ subs.

they really aren't that bad.

Ive heard the ones I install at work everyday, both in the loaded ported box from Kicker, and in prefab sealed boxes.
Still not my choice.

I'm a kicker fan in general so maybe im biased. I'm not a sound expert by any means, not even remotely, i just know what i like when i hear it. Thats why im using 2 12in L7 barics when i get around to building the box.

They make SQ gods cry....Seriously though....There are a few drivers that come to mind that will PWN the CVR in SQ and output....

Assassins for one...

I glanced at the subs in circuit city before I bought some. I heard a box with 2 cvrs but the polks below them blew them out of the water. So I got polk instead....
Ratha77, you should know if the CVR subs sound good. In your sig, it says you have one.

I've heard lots of rave reviews on the CVR's, everybody I've talked to who's had um says they are worth getting if you don't have the money to go with an L7/L5.

well i had an infinity POS 1230W before, and there is no question that this sub is 10x better than that. i actually like the response of the CVR, and it can hit pretty hard and deep as well, i cant turn the bass boost up very much on the amp because it just gets too crazy, maybe thats just for me though.

I've had 12" CVR's (in a sealed box) for 3 years now, and I have NO complaints, the things are louder than you'd ever want them to be, and yet very punchy. With the right configurations on the amp and head unit these things sound amazing, I get nothing but compliments when people get in my car. Well worth the money, especially if you can't afford L7's. My buddy bought L5's and we both agreed the CVR's sound better (and mine were a year old while his were NEW) well, thats my 2-cents.

circle > square but yah my friend has them and they are loud but not very accurate. SPL > SQL You should compare them to the Type S or Type R alpine since you are looking at best buy type of products.

Hey adampit, I'm not sure what you mean by "sound sloppy" but if you're referring to droaning bass, it's all about the box (sealed or ported) and the amp h/u configurations and also, the song. cuz in the end its all about the frequencies...

I mean the transition between bass notes does not flow -- its all about personal opinions anyway about how bass should sound, i am not a kicker fan.

I'm not sure I agree with you about the transitions, but I'm biased, I love these things. I will agree that it's all about personal preference though. I just prefer CVR's, for the money & sound quality I haven't heard a better sub.

CVR arent that bad in comparison to solos a much better choice then the solos. There are much better subs out there but the cvrs are dirt cheap.

My friend has two 12"s paired with 2 10" EV's wich basicaly silenced his previous set up (two type E's). He got his for 150 online I dont think you could do any better for the price.
