JL 250/1 Amp in Thermal Mode

I have had a JL 250/1 mono amp for over five years along with two 10" JL subs. Yesterday the amp stopped working and i'm not sure why. When I power on my head unit, none of the lights on the amp go on except the thermal light which just blinks red. I don't think its an external heat issue because it does this in my garage with the trunk open.

I called JL, but the guy didn't appear to want to help. He just claimed that the amp was dead without giving me a reason why. They want $120 to fix it.

Does anyone have any ideas about what is wrong with the amp, or possibly my installation? I've had it installed and working for over a year in this car so i'm not sure why it would just stop working suddenly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check for shorts on your speaker wire and everywhere else.

unplug your speaker wire coming from the amp see if it still occurs. It could be in protection mode if the sub is blown.
