Anyone install a dvd player in their glove box?
Would like to know if anyone has mounted a dvd player in the glove box of their 5th Generation. Our glove boxes are very small, so I don't even know if its possible.

I'm a 4th genner and didn't do it in my glove, but used to have a Microvision DVD player mounted at 90 degree angle in my center console. It was a little smaller and less deep than a single din unit and played mounted at that angle without skipping a beat. Not sure about your center consoles in the 5th gen, but this might open up an option for ya, as it is pretty small, cheap, and worked well for me.
This is the unit: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-MicroVision-...QQcmdZViewItem
Here's how I had it mounted...

On second thought, that microvision might actually be a great idea. I skimmed through your post and thought the deck below the screen was the DVD player.
$90+$25shipping... not terrible, but have you seen anything cheaper? There's a bunch on eBay but the brands seem suspect.
How's the on-screen menu with this unit?

I don't remember there being an onscreen menu, but see that big remote control right next to the DVD player? Thats the remote for the Microvision. The unit has a little wire that plugs into the back of it, then at the other end of that wire is a "reciever" for the remote's signal, so I was able to control the Microvision via remote with my glove box closed. I had the remote receiver thingy where my cigarette lighter would have been.
I haven't seen anything cheaper, but didn't look much. I was happy with the Microvision screen (not that I've tried others) for the price so went with the same brand, as sketchy as the brand name "Microvision" sounds. Also I got it becuase it was advertised to play at any angle, and it definately did. Plays MP3's too.
Good luck!

No definately not sure. Never used it for MP3's, and that remote had a lotta options. If onscreen stuff ever turned on, I woulda turned it right off. Sorry, just don't remember. I would guess it would have something like that for MP3's?

i used to have one in my glove with a flip out screen. it worked great. however, if you put a dvd player in the glove box, you're gonna want a remote eye. if you dont know what that is, its a little small thing that lets you point the remote to it, instead of being in direct LOS of the actually dvd player, which is kind of hard to do when it is closed. anyway, i had boss 2800t dvd player with remote eye and tv tuner (no antennas). the tv tuner seemed to work decent, but never had it hooked up cuz i never bought any antennas. the dvd player worked pretty well. but then the dvd player started messin up, so i sent it in for repair. they ended up sending me a replacement. it worked fine for a while, then my HU died. but before that the remote messed up, and i never fixed anything. but to answer, yes you can buy one that small, just need to make sure you clear some space for it.
