I did not like the test....they said it hit the 161 (or whatever it was) when it blew....thats what the comp subs are designed to do anyway. Then again, my idea (have a bunch of 12's or 15's) gets done all the time at the audio comps and I do have to give them credit for doing something new. I wish they had made their own magnet tho. I think they could have made it do up and down much better instead of having that slight rocking motion. Overall, cool idea, I would just like it a hair different.

i did see it. half the db level was probably from all the freaking vibrations due to the driveshaft attached to the 'woofer' cone. the vibrations were probably also half the reason the sunroof popped open... but who knows. They didnt talk about acoustics or sub box design at all.. i thought they were gonna actually set up a huge box with lots and lots of subs or something. overall, dissapointed, but interesting idea. cool db drag clips as well.

Can anyone name ANY convensional subs that can hit 161 at 16Hz? Not going to happen. Also, do you realize how many amps and batteries they would have to purchace to achieve the same level of "power" they were looking for. They would be looking at 100k in equipment. I bet they didn't spend over $1000 for the entire project. For the cost involved and time constraint, I thought they did an awesome job. One of the best episodes yet IMHO. Ofcoarse all of us would want to see a convensional designed sub, maybe even one we could purchace, be used. The only problem is lack of results. As far as their subs failure, did anyone else notice as soon as the sunroof popped, the woofer came apart? Can you say unloading! With a better design and something other than a danm innertube for a surround coupled with a car without a sunroof, I bet they would have tore that bish apart. Another problem I saw was the lack of linear motion, which also caused the surround to rip. That issue is a must to reduce failure rate. I have it on DVR and wish I could rip it from there to share. I am pretty sure it will be hosted on ROE before too long.
