Whats your opinion

Ok so my friend at work sold me a 18" Kicker comp cvr its 2 years old and he needed money badly and everything from his car was stolen but that. Now my question is what will I need to buy to get this beast up? I have a brand new in box 1000w(so it says) 2 channel sony amp and a 1 kw cap. What all will still have to be bought to get this thumpin? besides box ofcoarse. I just want it to hit not talking about major comp here maby lowest i can go with this sub. Sorry i am terribly new in the audio department and i need your experts to help me out here.

Or should i just sell it and but something else

Thanks for any help. and please no flaming

first you are going to need a amp wiring kit. then the sub box (which you say you have already) an amp (which you say you have already) and then are you going to have the system wired to the stock headunit or are you going to buy an after market headunit?

If you buy an after market headunit you'll need the dash kit wiring harness antenna adapter and the headunit

You won't be able to get the required air space for that thing in your trunk. Def sell it, or use it as a HT sub if you don't have one.

You are not very creative my friend...currently my 15 is sitting in 4.2 cubes after all displacements...over 6 cubes without and I can still take my box out

Pics?

Also an 18 inch comp is gonna require quite a bit of air space, I'm assuming in the 7 - 8 cube range. Even the 10's 12's and 15's required alot of air space for the Kicker Comps.

That 18 will work well in about 8-8.5cf. Could you find the air space, absolutely, but you will choke the sub out with the lack of airspace needed around the box restricting the output into the cabin. If you make the box much smaller, you are just limiting the drivers output, in effect chocking it out internally instead of the previous external. A 15" requires a MUCH smaller box.

Def don't lack creativity. My 12"s are in 4.5cf and the box barely fits. I had to actually bend metal to get it in and out. 5th gen suck for that.

Not at the moment...but I can take some I guess...Remove the spare tire, fiberglass, build inside the trunk and I can fit 12-13 cubes before displacement in a 4th gen...I may do it next summer if I have the money

Why go through all the trouble if you just want to hear and feel your music? Just get a better quality 12, and you won't lose all of your trunk space. You will most definately feel it.

Just run it sealed in around 6 cubes...you dont need to run it ported...Currently my box dimmentions are 36 wide, 26 deep, and 13 high, that should put you right around 6 cubes (little less) after woofer displacement....I can go bigger, but that was the easiest without making a wierd shape...
