Remote Start on 791xv

Maybe someone here can give me a better view on what else i need to get done. My buddy is MECP certified and helped me with most of the alarm but we ran out of time the other day for the remote start. I have the keyless, door triggers, and parking lights all work. Everything besides the remote start and trunk pop are working.

Today i plan to tackle those but i doubt il have enough time. Im a bit confused on running the starter wires. Are they starter wires jsut tapped off the starter wires under the hood?

thats what i thought. I just wanted to make sure. I understand where your coming from about the newb installing an alarm, but there really is no better way to learn. im not going to just start hacking wires and hope for the best.

do you have a test light?

you should be using the ignition/starter wires right beneath the steering column/wheel.

but your best bet would be to wait till your buddy gets back....

sigh... i know i need to wait for him. i hooked up the led, siren, and valet button today but i got to get to work here soon. I know if i wanted to do the remote start i could but id rather have him here to make sure i do it right. i mean i found all the wires i need but im just afraid to do it.

well my buddy wont be back for a while. He just got in a major motorcycle accident the day of his wedding. 5 broken ribs, broken hip, fractured pelvis, and a clapsed lung. He wont be able to do any kind of install for at least a month or two. Im going to tackle the remote start portion of the alarm this weekend. wish me luck!

alarms and remote starters sound and look a lot more intimidating than they really are. If you run into something your not sure of.. STOP.. bc just as easy as they are to do, the electronics in your car are just as fragile so ya dont wanna mix some wires up. If your not sure ask.

ironically, i spent tonight braiding as many wires as i could before i do the install on my avalanche. I bought 2 791XV. One for the Avalanche and one for the Maxima. Im still waiting on the databus interface and transponder bypass for the Max though so that install will be next weekend. Damn i love these interfaces. It makes life so much easier.
