New Toy, at same time one broke

Good News: Just picked up a Memphis 16-MC300 2 ch. amp to drive the soundlines, big step up from the crappy kenwood amp I was running.

Bad News: a few days ago someone borrowing my car decided to see how loud she gets and messed up the V.C.'s on my IDMAX by clipping the hell out of it. Luckilly they will be paying 100% for the repair which is looking like $100 plus shippping each way to Cali. So I guess its not entirelly bad news as I'll be getting an almost brand new IDmax basically for free, just won't have any bass for a few weeks. The soundlines sound like they made it (glad I kept them gains set low with that crappy amp). If not, may decide to upgrade to a 3-way front stage in the near future.

Just felt like sharing since I havn't been on here for a while.

good to hear the person owned up. I NEVER EVER EVER let anyone drive my car or touch my system without them getting a swift kick in the nuts. the only person who has driven my car was Kevin who more than knows his audio. Hopefully the turn around time will be quick with the sub. people are so stupid when it comes to car audio its sickening.

+1. I dont know why people mess with other peoples ****. I feel bad for moving the seat in someone elses car, let alone messing with the system, because I know I hate when I cant get my seat just right. But at least he did own up.

Yeah, I usually don't let anyone else drive my car either. But he was just moving it at work cause I was busy and they needed it moved. He came in and said something like Yo, I heard you had a system in there so I turned it up, sounds ok, something sounds wrong though.
Now I know my system, and someone with stock or near stock equipment (like him) usually tend to be blown away at the quality of sound from the rainbows, and output and lows of a single 12" in a sealed box. So I knew something must have been wrong, so I tell him to stay with me after and I'll play some tracks to show off the lows and quality. When I get back to the car with him after work the volume almost maxed, and subwoofer output is maxed at +15. I realize the CD I left in it was Buckethead, and was playing an extremely fast and hard hitting song for a subwoofer. The motor is still moving but the coils are obviously messed up.
He knew nothing about my car and will never touch it again. When I told him how much everything cost that he may have damaged in just a few mins he was pissed. Luckilly he is a good friend of mine and will pay for any damage, but if he wasn't I probably wouldn't have let him move the car.

So like I said I'm not too pissed, and i'm sorta thinking about holding off a month or so on getting the Max fixed to see if I can have it upgraded to a V4 as soon as they come out provided their still using the V3 motor and basket like they did on the v2-v3.

just tell them you want a v4 anyway they will do it. I am glad he is owning up because he obviously did a full system test without consent.

Just finished installing the Mclass and what a big step up that is from my previous amp. I think I'll be able to "suffer" through not having a sub for a while with how good these rainbows sound now.
