Replacement aftmkt 8" sub for the bose sub in deck

I know its do-able as in the how to and stickies, i just wanna hear from someone who has done it.

I was thinking of just poping out the bose sub and putting in a free air mtx or pioneer sub,

would it sound alil better??
Can i leave the stock bose amop?

btw I dnt want a "system, ive had them before dont fell like spending the money and i use all my trunk space.

If youve done something like upgraded the stock bose sub please post it.

and done...sounds pretty good, I lot better than the bose ever sounded. No, you can't use the stock bose amp, it has something to do with resistance I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong here guys. Even if you could find a sub that would match the bose, it would still only give the sub 100 watts. Also you can run subs off your factory deck, you have to get an adapter, I don't know the model number, but it is in the stickies.

Image Dynamics makes a great one, and so does DLS. and you definately cant use the stocker bose amp..

it would sound a hell of a lot better. ill let Parag chime in, as he just threw in some DLS's in his rear deck recently i believe...

make sure you use lots of deadning.

4 wires, 2 speakers wired in parallel. You may be happy with the sound from one but its highly doubtful.

The 'stock Bose amp' (located under the rear deck) is only for the four door speakers. The Bose sub amp is actually under that black plastic cover on the sub itself (I know, I dismantled it searching for the cure to it cutting out). The amp powering the door speakers puts out a very meager amount of power. In fact, my Alpine 9856 HU puts out more power per channel than that POS. My solution, and I really tried hard to have it not come to this, was to order an Inifinity Baselink II and give up on the Bose crap.
