10" IB in rear deck of 5.5 gen PART II (pics)...

Well, I decided to have at it tonight and get as much done as I could. Still have to finish the grill cosmetically, but here it is...

10" IB installed originally with grey t-shirt material for a grill...

Now with some Fusion satin black plastic paint, black felt and spray adhesive...

And a rear shot with the XM radio antenna on rear trunk lid.

The grill consists of a 10" waffle grill mounted to a 11.5"x11.5" 1/2" MDF board. The grill is covered in black felt and sits even with the height of the MDF board. I am going to take a router to the MDF to get a smoother finish and either paint it with a slick grey/black or cover it with felt as well.

Waiting for part three, it's so close to being really clean.

Why did you not stretch it across like the shirt?

When the bass hits, it fluctuates up and down and makes all sorts of psychadelic images in the cloth. My kids thought it was real cool, but I am trying to make it as unnoticeable as possible.

Now the cloth is attached to a metal waffle grill. Plus, once it's all done, it'll have a "custom" yet OEM look instead of just a square board sitting on my deck.

It's just amazing looking at the difference. It's like night and day...

Grey...

Black...

These were taken tonight so the flash makes the black look charcoal. But it's black.

Me too. Then I can stop thinking about it. It'll be done before Saturday.
