Arc audio amp question.
Arc audio amp question.
Just wondering what company makes this amp. Both amps have the exact same board, I'm guessing Arc but don't know for sure, and figured with how much the orgers like Arc stuff someone here could tell me Don maybe?

Clarion DPX1000.2:

I recently bought a modded arc 1500dr on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...1421&rd=1&rd=1
And after some research just won a Clarion DPX1000.2 for $96:

Had to jump on that last one even though I really don't need it anymore.

Nice quote...
Only differences reside in the quality control from those early Clarion models and the other designs it shared with Arc(which i believe was only 2-3 models). All amplifiers go through a a final Qc check by the techs at Arc in the U.S. to ensure the amplifier meets specs they wanted and that there is consistency in the tolerances of parts. If it didnt meet Arc specs, it was not sold to the consumer.
Also the age of the Clarion amps is a factor, as they were produced for a short period of time back then. Whereas Arc Audio used those designs up to last year and they were constantly under production runs, making needed changes along the way over the years.
For instance the last XXK1500(v1) was not even that same design. It was a class G/H switching at the rails with a class A/B output stage. , not a Tripath. Arc did away with all Class T designs because efficiency aside they came to the conclusion for a high end SQ line they simply are not as good sounding as an A/B amp.
As of right now...Foose /Signature Edition designs are proprietary to ARC Audio only and those few shared designs are no longer used.
While the Clarion amps proved reliable, you can no longer get them fixed by the manufacturer. Those Tripath chips also have been declared extint and i dont believe are any longer produced.
Whereas Arc Audio has a great service department and make repairs inhouse in California for ALL their designs.

Thanks alot KPR10is and Manny. I figured the clarion wouldn't be identical or thought they might have been the ones that didn't stand up to Arc's standards. I'm still satisfied getting that Clarion for that price, but I wouldn't have paid half what I paid for the arc.
Well got em both today. There is quite a big audible difference between the 2, although my arc isn't a stock amp so its not really a fair comparison. The arc really brought that sunfire sub to life can't wait to get the IDmax back and compare the 2 on equal power.
