Thoughts on pressure from sub in trunk?

...vs the speakers suspended from the rear deck lid. does the pressure really affect them that much? does it really only matter if the trunk is sealed?

I've always been curious about this, and have seen sellers advertise covers for 6x9s and 6.5s for this purpose. When i close my trunk lid, i see the cones on the rear speaks jump up, which makes me wonder.

Any thoughts?

Well at full volumes my subs make my rear speakers clip so i took them out for now. But i went ported and there is so much air i can feel it in the front at near full volume.

the foam baffles "suffocate" the sound from the speakers in the rear deck. I would just axe rear fill instead of hearing weak speakers in the back with the baffles.

I guess you could crossover the rears very high (~150 - 200 hz) to avoid clipping at high volumse to keep the cone from moving much.

What if you dropped some "passive radiators" into the holes or just disconnect the rear speakers and let them be the passive radiator. I haven't seen a box with a passive radiator in years but back in the day Kicker made one for the Camaro (2 8in woofer and 2 10in passive radiators) and that box rocked.

If I end up putting my box back in the truck. I might just remove the rear speakers so some of the pressure can enter the cab rather than rattling my trunk lid

Yea I don't think thats a bad idea. Passive radiators in car audio are pretty much un-heardof in rear decks.

LOL....true. Just a thought. Probably just add distortion anyway. To the original question about the rear speakers. I think the bass affects them, especially the harder your subs are hitting.

Apollos2, my ascendants will act as passive radiators here shortly.
