Radar Valentine or Replace Audio

I have been debating this all week. I stumbled into $400 to spend as I wish.

I immediately set my sights on a Valentine 1. I recently got a ticket which the cop was nice enough to drop down to a non moving violation. I ordered the Valentine yesterday and just called to pause the order cause I am having second thoughts about spending $400 on a radar detector. MY last ticket was 7 years ago. I'm careful and vigilant on the road but do speed. My most common route is the Taconic Pkwy into the city. 55 limit, but I hardly ever go under 65-70. I actually keep it at 75-80 most of the way.

On the other hand, my crap Bose is on the fritz and have thought about replacing it.

Which route do you guys think I should be headed? Just a little guidance, a little nudge to one side or the other.

The radar is an investment...and you can use it in many future cars with ease. I just got a V1 a few months ago, and I wish I bought it the day I got my max. However, my car is filled with audio and I also feel it is an investment. Just remember, to do audio if will cost about 3x the price of the
V1 to make it worthwhile IMO. Here is an idea of how yo can mount it. V1 hardwired (thanks Kpr10is) with custom bracket.

Personally I feel radar detectors are a false sense of security and will urge you to drive Less cautiously. Havent had one in about 10 years, nor have I had a speeding ticket. If your record is as good as you just stated..invest in the audio. Speakers/Amps/HUs/etc can all be enjoyed during your entire drive, even while stopped. Can a radar detector do that for you?

$1200 is a bit more than he should have to spend to upgrade his sound. He won't get the BEST out of $4-500, but he could get a new HU and new speakers without breaking a sweat.

throw up a poll. go audio.. makes the drive much more pleasurable.

Eventually, you'll probably just ignore your radar going off, and get caught anyways...

I agree 1200 might appear high, but If I spent 1,200 1st time around I would have saved about that much not upgrading. for $400...you can't get much audio from authorized places that is of acceptable quality IMO.

Go with the V1, you can always put it in future cars. Plus all you really get was a HU for 400 bucks, but its up to you, Good luck
