Pioneer AVIC-D3?

Anyone heard anything about this?

I recently found out about it on Pioneers site. Its basically their D2 successor, debuting this March.

Double-DIN, NAV, DVD playback, XM/Sirius Ready, 6.1" Screen, iPod Direct Control Ready, Bluetooth Ready, illumination customizable. For around $1,000.

I'm interested, any opinions/suggestions? I am on AVIC411.com right now reading up.

looks cool...the major things I like about it are the price point and how "stock" it looks.

Sounddomain already has a pre-order price of $950...I think when it comes out, we'll see it in the high $800s.

Makes me wish I had waited. I just had a AVIC-D2 installed. Couldn't pass up the deal though. Last one the shop had, and got everything installed for $800, rear camera included. Do kind of wish it had DVD playback, but it's better for us not to have it. I already have too much fun playing around with it while driving.

the one thing i don't like about the d3 is its only 1 drive so you have to take the map disk out to play music cd's after you set the navigation.

My sub doesn't work now. I have to check my connections and everything tomorrow. It's 20 degrees now and I don't feel like freezing my *** off in the car.

Maxima_Polak, nice job! I want one soon. Are you worried at all with the Warranty though? Please tell me you got the 3yr extended?

Thats good then. I don't really know anyone who fix headunits, so I am definitely going to get a warranty.

Kind of a random question. But will an updated mapdisk change the way the maps looks? Or add features? Lots of construction so I am thinking of getting an updated one.

Seems alot of people think not. Of course the fact that they claim a manufacturers warranty that they cannot backup should also say something about theyre shadyness.

Friend of mine purchased one from crutchfield and I installed it today. Very easy to install. The unit looks great in his dash and does a great job with iPods, I was thoroughly impressed with its functionality and no lag with the ipod. The touch screen worked great and radio and cd player functions were nice, the nav worked fantastically as well... I must say this is probably the best bang for the buck navigation HU available. Hopefully eclipse and others come up with some competition for it so the consumer market can find some great navi options for great prices.

the only down about this unit is that it only has 1 slot for dvd/cd/map. So you would have to lad where you are going then take that disk out and then put your cd in.

It doesn't seem all that small when working with it, but compared to the pics of the Jeff's unit def a smaller screen.

You can run a CD changer with it, the unit has it's own port for the ipod. "IPod direct" is what it's called I believe.

You can get an adapter to plug it into the IP bus, but you will still have to control the zune in order to switch tracks etc.
