Replacing just the Sub in my 2k1 Bose
I want to replace just the sub in my 2k1 I30. Can I run it off of the Bose amp? What should I look for in a sub to run with that amp?
Just want a cheap improvement, not a big hi-fi guru.

I am looking into do the same thing. The Bose sub sux. All that I have found out is that if you want to put it in the same spot as the BOSE, then it has to be an 8" free air sub in order to not have to make many modifications. When I find out some more info I will let you know, hopefully you can do the same.
But I do know if you want to get better sound you probably want to replace the BOSE amp also, I think. Hopefully someone can help us both out.

There's actually many post regarding the the Bose system. You could do a search and find many threads on them. NissLover is right. You can run the new sub off the Bose amp, but the sound would sound a lot better if you replaced it with an after market amp to power your new sub. (Bose runs in 1-2 ohms I believe and most after market subs can run at 4 ohms. Having a 1-2 ohms amp powering a sub capable of 4 ohms would defeat the purpose of having 4 ohms.) The Bose sub amp is actually located right under the sub [and not that other thing that looks like a sub amp (it's actually the amps for the speakers)]. You're probably better off spending a little more money and getting an after market amp.
