I'll still pass on anything with the "Bose" stamp, or anything factory for that matter

So youve seen a Bose HU as well as Navi/Bluetooth in a car before? I do mean actual Bose, not OEMed FOR the Bose badge to be put on..

Asdiee from that...what 'cuurent' stuff? Bose has nothing in the aftermarket 'current'.

Looks like a good unit, stepping it up in the front end. What about drivers and amps though? I'd like to see some more work put in on that end.

Well, it looks cool and impressive.

I thought the in-dash 6-disc player was pretty cool and impressive in my QX4 until it started displaying ERR and won't give me my CDs back.

I think it is about $275 to get them back, so I just bought an ipod instead.

But the HU in your QX4 is a Clarion.

That's pretty impressive coming from Bose. I like the fact that they are integrating bluetooth, navigation and a hard drive into the headunit. There's definitely some potential there.

Anybody know if it's DVD-based navigation or HDD-based? I'd like to know if it's upgradeable as well.

They don't really talk about the audio end. It looks like they just added all the stuff all the other units on the market already have. Looks like all I have to do is buy a ferrari?

All that really matters to me is, "does it have line-level outputs?" If not, the eq-ing needed to flatten the Bose sound is probably prohibitave.

I STILL don't get why OEM manufacturers don't charge $20 more per car and just add at least a single set of RCA outs on OEM HUs- especially with all of the integration that goes into newer units. Noone wants to lose the OEM integration, but a lot of people want to add to it. OEM still makes their money (you have already bought the vehicle and the components that are in it), so what would they care if you add onto it?

Bose has always produced equipment with lots of features that people like. Unfortunately Bose makes the absolute worst price/performance Home Theater gear on the market. Their HT stuff is just plain horrible. The only thing they make that is good is their Noise Cancelling headphones. Even though their NC circuitry is the best out their, the actual sound quality of the headphones is mediocre at best. All of their gear is cheaply made and sold at huge premiums. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be another high priced horrible performing piece of equipment that people will swear is the absolute best because Bose tells them it's so.

Apparently Bose is doing something with the new Infiniti G37 as well. It should be interesting to see...

Available technological features include touch-screen navigation system with XM NavTraffic real-time traffic function and 9.3GB Music Box hard drive, RearView Monitor and an 11 speaker Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose audio system with 24 bit Burr Brown DAC and 3-way door speaker arrays with 10 inch sub woofers.

Up? Up? Based on what I had in my '96 Max, it'd be real tough to go DOWN?!
