Hifonics: cheap, powerful amps. reliability is about an 8/10, I had a brand new one that shut off after hours of driving though.

Soundstream's old stuff used to be real good. they're still decent, not as good as they used to be though.

so conlusion: both company's are decent mainstream.

Soundstream is good, but it's true, not as good as they once were. The old Tarantulas were awesome amps, better than the new ones. Reference are quality reliable old school sounds amps and mine have been quite reliable.

If I had the money I would but I don't have that kind of money to get a eclipse 5 channel.

in my opinion have you looked at the kicker zx750? i bought one, first one **** the bed after 3 hours playing, but i warrantied it and the new one does a great job. not spectacular but for 275 i got 70x4 at 4 ohm and 420x1 at 2 ohm. powering 4 alpine typ-r speakers and an id12d4 v3 and it sounds great.
