Smoked an amp WTF?
So I just finished pulling out the amp I was going to use for my highs because I blew it up. Here's my story...
I've got an 01 max and planned on pulling out the bose. I started off by adding a PAC w/ RCA's to the stock blose headunit, wired a set of RCA's, ran power wire/etc. added an amp and sub. It worked, but I decided I wanted some components.
I ran another set of RCA's, pulled out the bose amp for the stock speakers, and used the speaker wires from the bose harness. I checked the wires, they were definetly the correct output wires.
Here's where I think I screwed up. I wanted to see if everything worked, with the stock bose speakers still in. I turned the radio on and the speakers played, sounded distorted, then I look back and see a small puff of smoke come from the amp. Would using the stock speakers kill the amp? It's a JL 300/2 and its supposed to be stable at 2 ohms stereo. The fuse never blew on my power cable. Also, why didn't the amp shut down, wtf?
I'm ready to cry. I spent about 20hrs wiring everything, my hands are bloody from running wires, and I've got nothing to show for it. HELP!

sounds like it was the amps time to go. even if the speakers gave a really low impedance like a .5ohm load the amp would just shutoff afaik...maybe those were not the right wires...how did you check them? good luck! either way it sounds like you need a new amp. or have it repaired...

Did you hook up all the bose speakers to the amp?
Sounds like the amp REALLY didn't like the 1 ohm load from the bose speakers... AND it's protection either 1) failed, or 2) failed because of improper wiring.
