My girlfriend just got a 1990 Maxima GXE with the Bose system. I told her that I'd put in a CD player for her. I've never installed one in a Maxima before, so I thought I'd ask for some help here. Do I need to take the dashboard off to release the old Tape Deck? Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thanks,
solid

There are a special Nissan harness you need, an antenna adapter and a pocket (unless there is one underneath the stereo right now) You also need a Bose inverter so an aftermarket stereo will work with your Bose speakers, otherwise it will not work. Listen to ALL of the Bose speakers to see if all of them work. If they all work, everything will be ok

you need a harness for the speaker wire and anteana plus the kit for the deck too.
first pry open the dash (center piece) and unscrew the factory radio out. match colored wiring with back of headunit with the harness and clip into the factory clip in the car. hook up the antenna with the antenna harness and then hook it up to the HU. Test to see if it works....
If it does then assemble the kit and put everything back together.
