out of many of the double din navs, the D3 actually is pretty flush in the dash, way more than the Alpines for example.. They look good.

But as with anything, anything can be done as long as you're willing to pay or have the know how

this is the unit i plan on using. every dd unit i've seen fits well and its more the face plate design that maintains the factory look. the d3 couldn't look more stock. you know about changin all the speakers out with a non-bose hu right?

I actually have one of these in the works to be installed in December.

Black, what do you mean about changing the speakers out? I have the non-Bose. Any info?

Any recommendations of a portable navigation unit (Garmin, Magellan, Tom Tom etc.) for a 2005 Maxima?

In my opinion I would go with garmin. Garmin is used by the military and they are very accutate. They put the military technology and put it into a portable car unit. I have had no problems with my nuvi 680.

^ In my opinion I would look at the date before you post...just because some other newb bumped a two and a half month old thread doesn't mean you need to look like a newb replying another two+ months later. Chances are he found his answer somewhere else in those two months.
