Okay I have a problem with my amp it is acting kinda funny

but for the past couple weeks my amp has been just turning off i dont know whats the reason for this
maybe its because i have a pyramid EQ but my amp is at half gain and the its a 800 4 channel amp im powering a 10" JL w0
and i really wanted to fix this
please help

look at the amp power light to see if it goes out.. or if it goes into protection.
Goes onto protection
(i) you may have your speaker wires touching, thus causing the amp to go in protect mode.
Made sure wires not touching still turning off
(ii) your amp may not be grounded properly, ensure that your grounding to the body of the car and not something just laying around
grounded to the trunk body so its right on the trunk floor
(iii) you may have a power lead, remote turn on lead that may not be connected properly thus shorting out the amp.
made sure amp is correctly connected to remote not a problem
b) is the amp volume cutting off yet power is still going to the amp?
(i) your speaker output wiring is in correct
Speakers are correct bridged
(ii) you maybe running in 2 ohm mode which the speakers nor the amp is able to do.
Have no idea how to check this
(iii) your amp maybe running real hot due to temp and shutting down.
Not hot but still turns off
(iv) check your RCA connectors, make sure they are connected correctly...
Changed the RCA's still turns off
For troubleshooting amp probs, I always use two things... a alternative speaker(not in the car) with wire connected... an alternative source to connect to the amp.. I use a portable cd player.
connect the amp to the portable cd player and the alternative speaker to the amp's output.. then troubleshoot backwards.. just a thought... good luck

Every point that Doug mentioned are great points.
Also, sometime amps have thermal protection. If the amp is playing too hard and is getting too hot (usually from overdriving) it will shut down. Does your amp have enough space around it for the heat to dissipate? Don't mount the amp directly to a thick carpet. Also, double check for shorts in your speaker wire, this could be the problem, this could be inside to box, maybe on the connectors.
