I pulled out the Blose speakers from my '90SE tonight and took measurements to check for clearance for new speakers. I've ordered 6.5" Infinity's. The questions are:

1. I noticed the Blose housing had some water on it. It was raining outside before I pulled the car into the garage to work on it. Do I need to fabricate a fully enclosed pod (similar to the Blose) to protect the speaker?

2. Would I receive better or worse speaker response if I built the above mentioned pod? I am planning on doing it in fiberglass - or possibly Acrylic/plexiglass.

3. Has anyone replace the factory Blose grills? How did you go about it? What materials did you use? I have access to some metal perf (perforated speaker grill material like the Blose) in black or brushed aluminum finish. I am thinking about trying to bend/shape/mould the aluminum finish piece. I think it would look pretty sweet contrasting with my black interior. Let me know what you think.

Don't build enclosures unless you model them on box-building software. If you make small sealed enclosures for the mids, you'll lose all of the midbass.

 

You can get some speaker baffles from Crutchfield for like
8$ I think. They will protect your speakers from the elements without ruining your sound. My cousin has them in his probe and he loves them. CS
