I'm looking into radar detectors now after i've got my first ticket...So do they really help...I'm looking at the Escort Passport 8500 and the Valentine One radar detector. Does anyone recommend a certain on and which on should I get?????

 

The most popular is the 8500. Let me know if you are interested in one, I manage a car audio shop in San Diego, CA and we carry that model...

There are some other posts with a lot of info on both. I've had both, right now I have the Passport. I would say go with the V1. Why? I didn't notice any improvement in the Ka, which is where it is supposed to be better. The V1 is quiet, the semi-logic mode works great around the city or highway. The direction arrows are invaluable!!! I could go on if you like. Anyways, if you decide on the Passport 8500, I am selling mine to buy the V1, $260 or so.. let me know. It's 3-4 months old, perfect condition.
