wanting to hook up a mini security camera to either the inside the cabin or next to the foglite vents during road course racing.. has n e 1 tried this yet?

my camcorder has a video INPUT and getting a power inverter to power the camera is easy enuf, just curious if anyone has attempted this and how good the quality of video is.
becauz if they come out nice, you can see some MAD racing footage. .. (read: GranTurismo Replay style)

They have lots of great cameras and they are pretty cheap. Most of them are 2.4 GHz wireless so you wouldn't have to worry about wires, and some of them come with battery packs so that they are COMPLETELY wireless. You'd have to figure out how you would wire the receiving end, but they transmit really good. My old roomate at school had two and they were awesome.
They are wireless, color, they have sound, and they transmit really good. They have many different cameras and lots of them are under $100.
See for yourself.

huh.

yeah. i would like to set up one in the fog lite well, one ontop of the car, one behind the rear bumper and one facing me,

my friend is making an indept short film for a nor cal city festivle on basically car modding (more like :why in the old days, it was white dudes in mustangs and now has evolved into a majority of asian cars with asian drivers.. not a racial kind of thing just more of a case study..)

so.. it'll be interesting if i can rig the cameras for come nice shots when we actually DO make this lil movie.

thanks for the advice...

No idea, sorry...

I know some small stuff exists, but I've never looked into it.

Might want to see if an in-car camera mount can be fabricated. You'd have to remove the covers from the B-pillars and see if there is a hole you can use to screw in a crossbar. The SE-R and ITR guys have some camera mounts in their group that bolt to the seatbelt shoulder mount, but they won't fit on Maximas as far as I know, even if the bar was long enough.

I've thought of a setup like the police cars have that you always see on 'Cops' and related TV shows. It appears to be a rear-view mirror mounted camera that feeds it's signal to a VCR. Wouldn't it be great to be able to replay the accident that occured in front of you or record the drunk driver ahead swerving all over the road and send a copy to the police? You could put cams all over the car if you like. Ever see a show called 'True Confessions' or something like that on HBO? They rig a taxi cab with cameras and just pick people up, get them talking and then take the interesting ones and make a show of it. No one ever notices the 3-4 cameras. Would be cool to pop a tape out of your cars VCR after it is recovered and show the cops a video of the guy who stole your car.

i went ahead and purchased a mini 1-inch bullet camera from Harbor Freights dot com, has built in audio too. so. now just waiting for it to arrive... then i'll set up the power inverter and try putting the camera somewhere with a good angle.

at my job we put a camera in the grill & 1 in the key hole in the trunk, we used the clarion's camera. we also intsalled 4 55watt fog lights under the rear bumper. they go up & down ( motorized ) just like 007. this is in a 98 honda prelude.

My dad had a PIR camera installed on his-->>

S500 on the rear so he could see while backing up... PIR cameras are pretty cheap and are very small.. All you need is a 12v source and somewhere to plug in the RCA video cord.

Those work perfect... Did you get Color or B&W?? My dad had both but I think the B&W works better in the dark.. Try MCM electronics next time...
