Also what type of wire do I run between the amp and the signal converter?

that would work...but are you just adding an amp and subs? or replacing all the speakers? I just added an amp for my subs on saturday I used a $20 PAC converter from circuit city. It is 4 wires, easy to hook up, and works great. This unit allows your head unit to take RCA's and RCA's are what you run to the AMP. Hope this helps.

Yes you will need RCA wires still...the PAC (brand Name) Converter basically taps into the existing wiring of the bose and has 2 rca inputs on the box itself. Very easy to do just check out www.installdr.com for a wiring diagram and follow the instructions. took me 2 mins once I got past getting the dash apart...which took 35 mins

Suggestion is get a good panel popper (trim remover) b/c when you go to get the vents out u need a good tool. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts for $5. No ripples in the dash very efficient tool.

Yes you do I suggest getting the little electric connector clips that just snap onto the existing wire without stripping...dumbfounded on the name but you can get them anywhere i.e. autozone, home depot.
But yes you do have to splice but it isn't hard.
