speaker level VS. Lo RCA level inputs
Dunno if this has been covered before...
My amp has both speaker level and RCA inputs. Right now, I'm running the speaker level inputs and am experiencing alternator whine. Initially I thought that having hi-level inputs would produce less noise than if I had gotten a signal output convertor and used the RCA inputs. I'm curious about which method inherently has less noise.
Will geting a line output converter and using the amp's RCA inputs solve my noise problems? Or do I need to something special for the speaker level inputs?
thanks fellas,
bryan

Your sound quality is slightly better if you run rca cables rather than high level input, but I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference. On the engine whine make sure all of your connections are tight and are running the power wire on the left side of your Maxima. I ran into the same problem running my power wire on the right side moved it to the left, re-routed my rca cables and it cured the noise. I also ran into the same problem running my power wire and rcas for my vcr and just re-routed them. Try re-routing your wires and see if that helps. What is the brand of the amp that you are using? And are you using your stock Nissan deck?
