I got a JVC det. face and want to install it myself on my Altima not my Maxima. Basically I got the unit from a friend who upgraded his car with another system. I have an idea on how to install but I have no experience in this.

The JVC has about 12 wires coming out the back, and I am not sure how to connect them to the car. Do I need to get a special harness, or anything else to connect the wires? How would I go about doing this?

Go get a $20 wire adapter at wal-mart...

plug it into your new deck and crimp the other side of the wires into your altima. match the colors and slap that new bad boy in.

not sure about the alt, but on the max you also need to get an antenna adapter.

no need for antenna adaptor

for altima (my sister has one) the reason max needs it is because of diversity antenna, altima doesn't have it.

yup.. no adaptors needed for an altima.. I put a Eclipse in my GF's 97 altima a couple months ago.. very simple install once you get the dash pieces off..

you have to remove about half the dash pieces to get to the stereo, but just take your time and be careful. I dunno if your alt has the wood trim stuff on it, but you have to remove a couple pieces of it.. just be careful and you'll be okay.
