system problems
I hooked my system up today but nothing happened. I then checked all my wires and they were hooked up right. The only thing that did occur was a funny smell from the speaker wires. I also am hooking all this up to my factory Bose system. Since I did not hook up a remote turn on wire would that be my problem. I figured I wouldnt since i have the signal converter but I am new to this stuff.
You could find the remotewire that goes into your bose amp, and just split off there to your bd1000. Or to test it, run a small wire(jumper) from the power input on your amp to the remote input. See if it turns on.
So u are saying that the remote wire is necessary and my signal converter i used by tapping into the rear speakers will not turn it on? Also what could have been making my speaker wire have a funny smell?
thanks

All the signal converter did was turnyour speaker wires into RCA's, right? If so its only function is to get the signal to the amp to be amplified Your amp might have the function of turning on when it sences a signal from the RCA's, but I don't think so. Every amp has a remote wire input. It is used so that you don't have to keep your amp on all the time and drain your battery. The funny smell, might be a short somewhere, that is burning your insulation. That could also cause your system not to work. Do you know if your amp actualy turns on? Do the LED's light up?
