What kind of signal does the remote start feature send? If I leave it unconnected(I have a 5spd), could I use that as an additional auxilary output?
It just outputs a +12V signal on the starter output wire, BUT... I wouldn't recommend trying to use it..
The remote start features on new alarms have a tach sensor, hood sensor, and several other input signals that either won't let the thing start, or won't let it shut off.. they also turn on all the auxilliary outputs for a period of time after it starts...
what that means in English is that when the starter output sends the start signal, it won't shut off until it sees an 800+ rpm signal on the tach input wire...
That also means that it won't fire that output if the hood is open, if the keys are in the ignition (car is on or on ACC already), or if you have your foot on the brake.
