Heh, I'm extremely new to this forum, and still don't have a Maxima. But, I'm working on that. Anyway, got question for yah, since you work at Tweeters, which as I recall owns Hi-Fi Buys as well.

I recently within the month purchased an Eclipse 5541 headunit (which is tight, best HU i've had yet) Well I was really wanting to maybe exchange it for the HU with the motorized TFT LCD display. Do you guys do tradeins like that? If I couldn't do that I was going to purchase a 6.8" display and just vacuum form a case for it next time I go back to where i graduated school. Anyway, if you have any enlightening info on the question, i'd be ever so appreciative.

Btw I CAN"T WAIT TO GET A MAXIMA!

Contact the store where you bought it at and if you have everything, box, packing, owners manual and schmooze the salesguy you shouldn't have a problem upgrading to the Eclipse 7002 or AV5101 video monitor...I have the 7002 monitor in my Maxima and it kicks a$$!!

good deal..

Thanks Dave, for the quick response. I have a feeling these guys at this store won't do it. :/ I figure I'd spend less money and less time in the long run if i just get a "commercial" lcd unit. I was going to fabricate the housing and do all of the electrical wiring my self, but right now I just don't have time :/

I already had a few problems with the guys at this particular Hifi Buys. They wired up the kit wrong, then they installed the dash kit wrong. I shoulda just done it myself, but they informed me that I wouldn't get the Eclipse security warranty if they didn't install everything (which of course hooks you for the 50 dollah installation fee). But thats life, right?

You happen to have a price off hand for the 7002 unit so I'd see how much of a difference I'd be paying?

That would unforunately also include having to pay installation again i'm sure.

Lates,

NO WAY!

I just paid with installation and tax like 550+ for the 5541 (i'm totally statisfied with the deck, but holy moly thats a good price for the lcd unit) That does have rca inputs for vid and audio, correct?

Once again thanks for the quick response, it helps having someone on the inside for info.

It's on closeout right now...I don't work in that region but call around for that piece to see if there are any more new in the box or just displays...if its a display you still get the full warranty and so on...It has 1 a/v input, 3 5V preamp outputs, remote, 1yr theft protection, 1st year over the counter exchange, and the best pic on the market!!!! Call around to find one!

CKNY!

I love your setup for your carpc, I'm building one for my current car, Dodge Intrepid. But want to do something like how you have yours for when I get my maxima. Anyway, keep up that tight dash work. I may be coming to you a sometime in the future for some info/advice. I'm gonna try and fit a 6.8" screen in there. We'll see though how well a screen that large would fit. of course without mucho amounts of dash work.

hehe thanks for the kind words... unfortunately the carpc has been scrapped (just don't have the time to keep up with it anymore) and i'm also selling my current system... headunit, tv tuner, tv... it's all going. =) Time to start fresh - and I wanna start with a flip out monitor. =)

Hey man if youw ant visit my post i started on mp3car.com's forum page. Its under LCD/Displays , heck let me just post the link:

http://www.mp3car.com/cgi-bin/ultima...c&f=7&t=000394

Anyway, we are working on trying to build our own flip out screens. But, it'd be tigh tto get the kenwood or pioneer 7" widescreen touchscreens. THough if you can find a VGA 6" screen you'd be golden, as they have the best quality over NTSC especially for CARPC multimedia use.

Good luck!

And to MAXIMADAVE, i haven't had a chance to go ask the guys at hifi buys about exchanging, i looked at the 7002 model and it doesn't have a single disc cd built in, which is what i wanted, as i still have a lot of cds that i've yet to rip to mp3. anyway, thanks for the info though, it is good to know that we have a knowledgeable, helpful fellow like yourself.

I've done tons of systems with the Eclipse 7002 and the Sony PS2...great combo...since PS2 also plays DVD movies!!!

I know the 7002 does NOT have a built in cd but Eclipse does offer the CH5061 6 disc in dash cd changer that would go underneath the 7002 for a double din setup!

Or, the make the 5083 8 disc cd changer (which I have) and it's the smallest cd changer in the industry.

Eclipse also makes a .5 din in dash DVD player DV3101 for $799.99

Dave - I never did get that email from you. How much can you get me a 7002 for... new or demo'd. I'm interested in it. The other model I'm looking at is the Kenwood p907. You know anything about it? 5.8" tv tuner + cd player + touchscreen+ tilts(important to me).

Anyway, please let me know about the 7002's and prices on them.
