subwoofer not firing, amp?
subwoofer not firing, amp?
Might be a noob question, but all of a sudden my woofer (Pioneer 12" 800W 150WRMS Model: TS-W301R) stopped firing. It worked during the night, then the next morning I awake and I get nothing.
Im wondering if it is an amp issue (Rockford Fosgate Punch 600W Model: P200-2)... as I connected my voltmeter to the speaker (subwoofer) output lines from the amp and am only getting about .2 DC Volts... I realize I probably should have checked the amperage to the sub as well, but forgot to.. hopefully you can diagnose the problem from what I've provided. The only light on the amp is the normal power light, which was always lit... I'm really lost atm.

ya infinite means theres you buying a new sub. should read about 2 or 4 ohms, depends on the sub. when you tested the amp with the dmm did you run a 50hz test tone? if you put the volume up 3/4ths the way you should see more than .2 ... but doesnt matter because it sounds like you cooked the sub. when you get a new sub use the dmm to set your gaines so you dont cook the next sub.
I have the same sub. It's the older version ts-w30m. Its rated at 150w rms and 600w peak. My amp is capable of pushing 220w which is higher than my subs rms. I had the gain turned about 3/4 of the way. After about 3 weeks my sub only works up to about 25 volume and after that it cuts out. I think the wires that connect the internals in the sub let loose. I will try to mess with it just to figure out what happened. Here's some more details on my problem: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=537897
