What could be causing these issues?

Guys, i'm hoping someone can help me diagnose my audio problems.

A while back i had my Basslink cut out and it would start working again by itself. Lately it hasn't come on anymore. (light is on, just no sound). Also replaced it with a new unit but that didn't work either.

Around the same time, my right channel also started cutting off. I could remedy it by either turning the HU on/off and/or "flash" turning the volume up/down.

It hasn't happened in a while. However, sometimes i get an odd sound from the speakers - almost like a weirdly mixed-up surround-sound effect.

There seems to be a signal going to the sub, and i've checked the connections behind the HU.

Just with this info, would you suspect the HU? Sub? Speakers? Wiring?

What do you suggest i do to help narrow down the culprit?

Thanks.

the wires running to the unit might be pinched or shorting out touching something, ground wire mihgt be loose did you wire the car? or was it already wired when you got the car or did you take it somewhere to have it wired? run all new wire like over your seats to the unit and see what happens if it fixes it then you need to replace your wiring or hook up something else in the car to see if it plays then it could be the unit it self the basslink or hu

Hey Will! Darn, long time no hear! How's it going?

I'm suspecting the wires, too. Although i just don't see how it would start doing that after quite some time without any issues.

The whole system, other than for the sub, still uses the OEM wires.

It's the original Basslink. Although i've heard similar problems with the older model, i don't think that's the issue for two reasons, a) I did swap it out with a brand new unit and still had problems, and b) The door speakers (one channel) is also cutting out every now and then.

So now it's likely down to either wiring or the HU.

unless it's the exact same head unit, i really think it has to do with the basslink.

Same exact HU, i never thought of testing it before.

Then again, it could be both!
