Opinions on new security system?

I was just browsing around, and found this item on Amazon and thought it was a good deal as of right now... Is it worth the money? (I don't know much about security systems and was just getting everybody's opinion on it).

So... ICE gurus, should I buy this?

Clifford makes a good alarm, cant tell if that is a current unit, someone else will chime in (Don, Kevin). But honestly, wouldn't you rather just buy it from an authorized dealer and have them install it? then everything (install and unit) will be warrantied.

Yea it's 'alright'. Umm Clifford 50.5 > your compustar FM900 all day.

Buy it online, then pay a small fortune for install and have no warranty or theft coverage. Not a good idea IMO.

Yes, but then I would be paying the price of the alarm at the store -- BestBuy or whatever other store (probably around $650 plus installation fees which I don't know how much they run, but I'm guessing around $100-150?) and just that would put me at around $800 which is really not the price I'm going to pay to have an alarm installed on my car. I just ran across this deal online today, and thought it was a good deal. I wasn't even going to buy an alarm system, but after seeing this deal, I think I might as well just go with it. But yes, I agree what you are trying to tell me, but that price tag is just too much for me.

And by the way Don, is that a current unit? I looked on Clifford's website, and it is the 2nd best one?

No sir, Big Box stores prices as well as B&Ms have the labor already included. Typical going price is in the 500 range installed, some higher and a few lower. In which case wouldnt be much more than the price you found it for + about $200 for a reputable shop to install it. About $100 or so to have a nationwide lifetime warranty !

Yes, but the 70.5 is not above it, it just offers the color screen and performs the same as the RS3.5.

Even if you buy it cheaper off the internet, and bring it to an installation shop, they're gonna rack up the labor charge because you didnt buy it from them in the first place. This is the retail business. and No, it shouldnt be anywhere near $800..
