Stereo bites!?!?

I really expected this stereo to sound a LOT better than it does.
I have a '93 and the stock Bose was on it's way out when I bought the car. I replaced it with a Blapunkt Heidelberg head unit, 6 X 9 Infinity References in the rear deck, 6.5" Infinity References in the doors, bought some adapters found on this website, Dynamet on the door panels behind the speakers. There is not much bass, not much highs, just kind of mediocre sound. The stock AM/FM cassette in my wife's Explorer sounds better. Obviously, I have thought of an amp. Would that help at lower listening levels? I do have it cranked at times, but a lot of time I don't, and I want it to sound good then also. I'm as liable to be listening to Dean Martin as Drive By Truckers or Delbert McClinton. Any feedback greatly appreciated, I'm in this car a lot.

infinity speakers need to be on a 4chan amp. If your looking for something affordable with good sound pick up some mid level pioneer speakers. Best bang for the buck. I did the same thing with my old millenia. Removed the stock bose system and hooked up some decent Infiniti speakers. Sounded like **** till i put them on a 4 channel amp.

1st mistake, infiniti speakers, 2nd mistake blau cd player.

You do need an amp on most speakers to get adequate sound and midbass out of them, however some can be put together without the need for an amp and still sound good, the midline pioneer suggestion isn't bad.
